What is Amazon Brand Registry
Amazon Brand Registry is a program that gives brand owners more control over their product listings and how their brand appears on Amazon. It helps protect against counterfeits, inaccurate content, and unauthorized changes to your listings. If you’re enrolled, you also unlock tools like A+ Content, Brand Stores, Sponsored Brands ads, and advanced reporting features.
A brief history
Amazon introduced Brand Registry in 2017 to fix a growing problem: brands were losing control of how their products appeared on the platform. As more third-party sellers joined Amazon, it became harder for brands to keep listings accurate or to stop others from using their name, images, or content. Brand Registry was built to solve that by verifying who actually owns a brand and giving those sellers more control over their content and landing pages.
Since then, it’s become a key part of selling on Amazon. Millions of brands have joined, and while it’s not required, it’s quickly become the standard for any serious brand trying to grow and protect its presence on the platform.
Good to know
To join the Amazon Brand Registry, you’ll need a registered trademark (or at least a pending one in some regions). Once you’re in, you can give access to team members or partners who help manage your listings.
It also gives you access to marketing and content features that regular sellers don’t get. So while it’s technically optional, it’s a huge advantage if you’re building a real brand on Amazon.
