What is a Wholesaler
Wholesalers are businesses that buy products in large quantities from manufacturers or distributors and sell them in bulk to retailers, resellers, or other businesses. They typically don’t sell directly to consumers and serve as a link in the supply chain between producers and sellers.
Examples
| Wholesaler | What they do |
| Alibaba | A global platform that connects manufacturers and wholesalers with B2B buyers. |
| Worldwide Brands | A directory of certified wholesalers for small businesses and online sellers. |
| Handshake | Shopify’s wholesale marketplace for independent brands and retailers. |
Good to know
Not all wholesalers work the same way. Some sell in large volumes only, while others cater to smaller businesses with lower minimum order quantities. Many traditional wholesalers operate offline, but more are moving online through B2B marketplaces and ecommerce platforms.
It’s important to check things like order minimums, lead times, and return policies when choosing a wholesaler to work with, especially if you’re selling across multiple channels.
